WANDERBURG WIKI

Wanderburg Mage Build: Lightning, Fire & Sire Jonah

EARLY ACCESS · SEPTEMBER 2026

Use Spiderburg for two top modules: Lightning Mage first, Fire Mage second. Add Teleporter in front and Catapult at the back when the core can already handle enemies. Sire Jonah supplies the techno soundtrack; the weapons, upgrades and movement make this build work. Choose Huntress instead when you want faster automatic attacks and can manage her longer active cooldowns.

Build notes In 0.9.14, Lightning Mage automatic attacks have 7 base targets instead of 5, and Roaming Storm is more robust. Overtime stun resistances also changed. More targets do not guarantee permanent control or enough single-target damage to finish every boss.

Complete loadout and each piece’s job

Keep the core pieces first. Add support only when your vehicle offers the matching slot; crew and captain are separate selections.

Lightning MageCore · first top slot

Develop automatic coverage early. Use the active when a susceptible enemy is close enough for the control window to help your escape or follow-up damage.

Upgrade tree →
Fire MageCore · second top slot

Adds a second damage source once Lightning Mage is working. Its fire coverage benefits from a useful pursuit route; do not split every early level equally between the two mages.

Upgrade tree →
TeleporterPositioning · front

Moves forward to a new position. Aim at open ground before pressing the active; teleporting into another threat does not solve a crowded escape.

Upgrade tree →
CatapultOptional pursuit damage · back

Leaves pestilence zones behind the castle. Lead pursuing enemies across them, but avoid spending early levels on this support while the two top modules need damage or cooldown upgrades.

Captain and crew

  • Techno captain: Sire Jonah. Choose him for the music. His listed effect is not a magic-damage or cooldown bonus, so do not spend your last Silver on him while a core module is still missing.
  • Automatic-attack alternative: Huntress. Provides 50% automatic attack speed, while active abilities take 40% longer to recharge. Favor automatic pressure and allow more time between active bursts.
  • Magic and slow support: Wizard Crew. Adds automatic magic attacks with a 3-second slow. Slow helps only against susceptible targets and does not make an immune boss safe to circle closely.

What to unlock first

Spiderburg requires all four Golden Dunes bosses and a 2,500-Silver purchase. Lightning Mage requires Mage Crew upgrade level 5 and costs 10,000 Silver. Teleporter follows Dash level 10 and costs 1,000 Silver; Catapult requires consuming 300 cows overall and costs 3,000 Silver. Sire Jonah costs 2,222 Silver separately. Buy the core and needed vehicle before the optional captain or rear module.

Key upgrades: what to pick and why

Use this as the direction for your draft. The alternatives below are choices to compare, not extra cards that must all fit into the same branch. Open a card for its exact target and tier details.

Pick priorityWhy it mattersWhen to choose the alternative
Opening: Lightning automatic progressionBuild the attack that keeps working as you drive. Improve the first top module before dividing upgrades across four unfinished weapons. If automatic attacks already clear the wave but your active is never ready when needed, develop the cooldown branch instead.
Coverage: Chain LightningDevelop automatic chain coverage when nearby enemies cluster along your route.Stun Duration supports an active-control plan on susceptible targets. It does not remove an enemy immunity.
Second engine: Fire automatic progressionInvest after adding Fire Mage so both top slots contribute during movement. An active-focused fire route needs its own cooldown investment. Do not expect an undeveloped second mage to carry the run.
Lightning branch: ThunderstormAdds an autonomous storm to the active. Keep enemies in its useful area without parking the castle in danger.Ultra Lightning adds a strong extra strike. Compare the branch offered for the target you are fighting; do not plan on receiving both together.
Fire branch: Fire StormDevelop the active fire area as a separate part of the rotation once your automatic engine and escape are dependable.Fire Ring is the alternative fire legendary. Pick one direction rather than treating both as required cards.

Artifacts that make this build work better

The module core works before the full artifact package appears. Take a useful replacement when the named artifact is missing.

Top Hourglass

Shared cooldown support

Improves cooldowns for the two top modules. It does not shorten Teleporter, Catapult or crew cooldowns just because they are in the same loadout.

Top Module Booster

Both damage cores

Supports the top-slot pair. Prioritize the slots doing most of the work before buying upgrades for an optional back module.

Powerful Gem

Magic damage

Adds 30% magic damage. Check the attack type of a support piece rather than assuming every weapon benefits from a magic artifact.

Couldron

Consume-based cooldown support

Consuming units accelerates magic-ability cooldowns. Use safely reachable small units between fights; damaging a castle is not the same trigger.

Catalyst

Fuel for the exit

Helps when frequent boosting empties the tank. Keep enough nitro to leave rather than spending the reserve to chase one extra hit.

Build order: opening, middle and finishing picks

  1. Opening: start with Lightning Mage, invest in automatic attacks and add Wizard Crew when available. Improve survival if close calls are already costing most of your health.
  2. Middle: recruit Fire Mage into the second top slot and prioritize shared top-module support. Add Teleporter for positioning. Catapult is optional; skip an expensive detour if the two mages still need levels.
  3. Finishing: choose a legendary direction for each mage and fix the actual limit: coverage, active downtime, health or nitro. Luck artifacts cannot replace a working damage engine or a safe path.

The combat rotation

  1. Choose an open turn and let automatic lightning attack while you approach the edge of a group.
  2. Use the lightning active against a susceptible target, then add fire damage while that target stays in the useful area.
  3. Curve away, letting pursuing enemies cross fire and rear pestilence zones instead of driving back into the centre.
  4. Use Teleporter only when the forward landing point is safe. Keep ordinary boost available if the arrival area changes.
  5. Take a safe recovery or consumption route during cooldowns, then repeat. Leave a spent damage area instead of defending it at the cost of the castle.

How to play the boss fight

Keep damage and control separate. A stun-resistant boss can still require a short burst and immediate exit; never wait beside it for a control effect to work. Fire immunity can also weaken the second engine. Check the actual enemy entry, let automatic lightning work while moving and save the fire active for a useful position. Five-skull Overtime remains dangerous even with frequent casts: finish a risky loop early if recovery or the escape lane is failing.

If a key piece is missing

No Spiderburg: a one-top-slot vehicle cannot equip both mages, so follow the existing Fire build or keep Lightning Mage as a single core. No Catapult: use an unlocked back support; Dash is an escape alternative that replaces Catapult in that slot. No Sire Jonah: use Norbert or the Huntress variant. No useful slow targets: treat Wizard Crew as damage support and rely on movement for safety.

Do not break the build this way

Spiderburg has no side slot. Do not add Side Flamethrower or Side Ballista to this loadout. Do not label Sire Jonah a magic buff, convert cooldown ratings directly into seconds, or describe a single successful phase as an invincible Overtime build. Keep the two top cores ahead of optional rear damage.
